If you’ve been thinking about starting something online but keep getting stuck in the “what should I do first” phase—you’re not alone.
I had the same thought. And instead of overthinking it… I just started.I started all of this early in the morning while my kid was eating breakfast. Not because everything was planned out—but because I was tired of overthinking it.
In one afternoon, I:
- picked a brand name
- bought a domain
- created a logo
- figured out my target audience
- wrote out my brand guidelines
- and started working on my first product
Not perfectly. Not fully planned.
Just simply.
Why Most People Never Start
Made with care and unconditionally loved by our customers, this signature bestseller exceeds all expectatMost people don’t fail because they can’t do it.
They don’t start because they overthink everything.
They try to:
- plan every detail
- make everything perfect
- research for hours (or days… or weeks)
And by the time they’re “ready”…
they’re overwhelmed and stuck.
What Starting Actually Looked Like
Starting didn’t look like a full business plan.
It looked like small, simple steps:
- picking a name that felt right (not perfect)
- buying the domain so I could move forward
- creating a basic logo
- deciding who I was building this for (mom creators)
- writing down what my brand stands for
- opening Canva and starting my first product
That’s it. No complicated systems.
No perfect setup. Just action.
There’s More to Build—But Not All at Once
When you start thinking about building a business, it can feel like there’s so much to figure out.
- The website.
- The design.
- A lead magnet.
- Email marketing.
- Content.
It’s easy to feel like you need everything done before you even begin.
But the truth is—you don’t.
- You don’t need a full website.
- You don’t need a perfect brand.
- You don’t need a full system.
- You just need to start with one step.
What Actually Matters First
Instead of trying to build everything at once, I focused on:
- choosing a direction
- getting a name and domain
- creating something simple
- starting my first product
Everything else can come after.
You Don’t Just Build It—You Have to Share It
Creating the brand and product is only part of it.
At some point, people need to actually find what you made.
And this is where it can feel overwhelming again.
Because now it feels like:
- social media
- content creation
- blogging
- email marketing
All at once.
Keep This Simple Too
You don’t need to be everywhere.
You don’t need to post all day.
You don’t need a full marketing plan before you start.
You just need one place to show up.
For me, that’s Pinterest and one content platform.
That’s it.
What Marketing Looks Like Right Now
Instead of trying to do everything, I’m focusing on:
- creating a few pins
- posting simple content
- showing what I’m building
Nothing perfect. Just consistent. Because just like everything else in this process… Marketing doesn’t need to be complicated either.
You Can’t Build on Burnout
If you’re trying to build something while taking care of everything else in your life, you already know how easy it is to feel overwhelmed.
I was a mom of 6… and now I’m a mom of 7.
I don’t have the time to be live all day.
My kids need me.
So instead of trying to keep up with what everyone else was doing, I had to build this in a way that actually fits my life.
That’s exactly why I created my first product—a wellness tracker.
Not just to plan… but to stay consistent, take care of myself, and actually keep going without burning out.
Because if you’re running on empty, nothing else works the way it should.
Start Simple. Then Build From There
You don’t need to have everything figured out.
- You don’t need a perfect plan.
- You don’t need to do it all today.
- You just need to take the next step.
- Then the next one after that.
- That’s how this actually works.
Final Thought
Starting doesn’t take months.
It takes a decision—and a willingness to keep things simple.
So if you’ve been waiting for the “right time” or the “perfect plan”…
This is your sign to just start.
